How to book and go to Korean KTX (KORAIL)

There is KTX trains which runs through Korea peninsula. 

Other than the subways. it is another means of transportation using high fast trains.

Transfering to KTX line from other subway line

 

When you are using trains or subways in Korea. Make sure you are following with the same line of a station that you are trying to use. Because there is a lot of subway lines and train station name under the same name but different line.

 

For example for Seoul station, there is KTX Seoul station, Line #1 Seoul station, Line #4 Seoul station and Airport line Seoul station. Once you arrive seoul station, you can transfer to another line of Seoul station Or KTX Seoul station. 

 

 

from Itaewon to Seoul station

If you are trying to go from Itaewon station to KTX Seoul station to use KTX train, you can take the subway from line #6 ITAEWON station, then transfer to line #4 subway at Samgakji Station, and then get off at Seoul station line #4. 

after you get off at Seoul station line #4, you need to find KTX seoul station. 

 

you can follow the KTX sign, and it will take about 7-10 minute walking. it could be little complicated to find the way out. during the way to KTX station , there is a transfer door to airport line subway, so be careful you are following the correct way, and anyway you go in subway, Make sure you are tapping out your card at the correct place. because once you tap out the card and take the exit, you should pay another ticket to get inside the subway again.

Booking KTX Tickets 

you can book the KTX train ticket at the KORAIL english website , depends on the destination, the tickets are quite easy to be sold out. so if you have a plan, it is better to book the tickets first, because it can be sold out. there is two types of seats. 

For example, if you are trying to go to Pyeongchang station from Seoul KTX station. you can book on the website choosing Normal type, Direct. and choose the date , and choose departure as Seoul and destination as Pyeongchang station. ( you can choose at P section) then you can select either first class and economy class. 

the seats are quite similar, but the price is different and they offer some snacks for the first class. but as you see on the weekdays. they are using these train to go to work so it could be quite easy to be sold out on those times when they go to work.

they require you to put emails and passwords , remember passwords to confirm the tickets next time and the website will take you to the credit card payment. and once you finish the payment, tickets will be booked.
